Tribute

We are sad to announce the passing of Iris Jackson, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend.

Iris left us after a short illness and now joins her parents Ethel and Dick Wilson, beloved husband John, son Kevin and his wife Sherry and grandson Joey.

She was born in Liverpool, England, the second oldest of four girls. Growing up, she loved to tap dance and she appeared in many theatres and shows around England. It was at a dance hall that she met “the love of her life” John Jackson.  They soon married and in 1970 immigrated to Powell River to start a new life with their boys.

Iris worked at Woolworth’s and Walmart, where she made a lot of lifelong friends. She loved spending time with her friends for coffee at the park or hosting them at her “halfway house” for a glass of wine.

Iris is survived by her son Peter, his wife Sherri and granddaughter Savannah; her sisters Brenda, Audrey and Shirley; and many, many, nieces, nephews and cousins. She will be greatly missed.

A service will be announced at a later date and the family has requested, in lieu of flowers, that a donation be made to your favourite charity.
