John Currey Gray left us peacefully in Powell River, BC on January 18, 2022 at the age of 69 years old. John was born in Ottawa, Ontario on September 9, 1952. John was a son, a brother, a father, and a grandfather. He was the oldest of seven children. John is survived by his sons, Sean and Ryan Murray, his sisters Jane Ervin (Dwayne), Susan Paton (Iain), his brother Bob Gray (Lorraine), and sister’s-in-law Donna Gray and Christina Gray, along with numerous nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his mom, Alice Gray, his dad, Donald Gray, his brothers, Jim Gray, David Gray and Doug Gray. John had a great sense of humor and always had a few favorite sayings such as “holy macaroni, happy bird day, and Wednesday.” John always ended every conversation he ever had with the word “OVER!” Rest in Peace Brother! A celebration of John’s life will be held at a later date in Calgary, Alberta.

Holy macaroni & Wednesdays. Johnny Gray was a character alright. I met him through a fishing buddy when he lived in Sylvan Lake, Alberta. Had great times on the ice and open water. We cooked bacon, hashbrowns & eggs in a spade with tiger torch on the ice. I remember him hanging fish heads in the trees so he could watch the birds peck at them.
