Ronald Frank Michael Mangan
June 4, 1942 - November 10, 2021
Tribute
Ron Mangan passed peacefully in Powell River November 10, surrounded by the love of his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, friend and willing provider of the sagest advice as he was a deep thinker and a good listener. Ron joined the RCMP at 19 years old and served honourably for 33 years in Maillardville, Haney, Qualicum Beach, Sechelt, Ladner, Ottawa, New Hazelton, Chase, and Powell River. He married his dream girl Lynnette when he was stationed in Qualicum Beach and they built a wonderful life through a beautiful marriage of 53 years, raising their three children through postings across the country. Ron was a seasoned Detachment Commander and a staff lecturer at the Canadian Police College and made life-long friends through the Royal Red. He was known for his radio voice and detailed storytelling, often spotlighting his early years growing up in Ontario, or his compatriots in the Force, or boating trips with his good buddies up the coast. Ron’s dedication to our community included being a Rotarian, a Kathaumixw host, co-founder of Sunshine Mac Users Group, and security detail at the BC Disability Games. Ron spent his lengthy retirement mastering Apple digital products, conjuring photographic wizardry, e-biking, dog walking and grandfathering his beloved Sullivan and Elizabeth. Ron will forever be missed by his loving wife Lynnette, his children Kerry (Mike), Angela (Sophie), and Patrick (Joanna), sister Faith and his dear friends. Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Ghali and Dr. Takhar, palliative and home care nurses Sue and Oscar, and the Powell River nursing staff. There will be a family gathering in the spring while his memory and humour will be with us everyday.
He was a good Dad.

Lynette, Angela, Kerry and Patrick, I’m very sorry for your loss. I remember Uncle Ron fondly from our trip out west and of course our Christmas in North Carolina when Faith came from Australia. He had such beautiful energy and brought joy and fun to the family gathering. I hope we can stay in touch and please don’t hesitate to contact me if you plan a trip to Montréal. Alex and I would love to share our home with you. Love Kate
